A little Shopping trip....

Yesterday I had to work a few hours and take my son to get his passport. Along the way we made a few stops to shop which I didnt really intend to do but now Im glad I did! My husband had returned something he bought for me and I had $45 to spend. I went to one of my favorite clothing stores and ended up getting 2 sweaters and pj's for $39. The total would have been $170 if they hadnt been on sale...thats my kinda deal!

After we were done everything we made a final stop at Maryanne's which is a country store. I didnt expect to find much but ended up coming home with these goodies! A great tea towel with a wreath on it and some tin buckets I paid $1.79 for.
I also got the 3 foot skinny tree for $14 and the flag for outside was half price as well. I was quite pleased with myself for the bargains!
Oh and thanks Dave(hubby) for holding the flag for pics!! I just couldnt seem to get a good pic of it otherwise.
Hope everyone has a great New years eve...drive safe if you are out partying take a cab or have a designated driver!

More Christmas pics!

Well today is December 28 and my birthday! We will keep mt age a secret for the day...hehe! I am just adding a few more pics from Christmas and then thats it for the season. Of course Pearse always makes his way into my pics as he is the love of my life! He is in his chair with a blanket my mom gave him from the humane society.
My husbands passion in Christmas decorating is his Dickens Christmas village. It is a Department 56 collection and Im sure he has thousands of dollars worth now that we have gotten over the years. He spends days getting it up there with every piece placed just so. Very hard to get a pic of....there is even a skating rink with skaters that go around.

And More......

And as you can see its on top of the entertainment case......which is full of my Boyds bears!

This is a pic of my tree....because I have a terrible camera it wouldnt take one with the lights on that was decent. We have over 400 ornaments on the tree....some dated back to the early 1900's that belonged to my husbands great grand parents!

This great star piece I bought before Christmas at a crafters open house. It is made in an old barrel top and I loved it!

My little tree in the turn of my stairs.....

My set of three trees lit up......

And looking thru my french doors....kind of messy there! But I wanted to show you the lanterns we hang from there and the other entrance to the livingroom. The garland I bought and has nice rusty bells on it and berries...again not a great pic!

Hope everyone has a great day....Im off to watch my son play hockey! Happy Birthday to me!

Decorating and my giveaway goodies!

I hope everyone is having a great holiday and getting lots of time to rest and spend with family. I have been reading blogs this evening and finally trying to find time to post some pics of my house. This first one is looking from my diningroom towards the front door. You can see my set of three trees from a different angle.
Also in my front hall...next to the door and at the foot of my stairs. I love the snow ladt sitting on the chair. Im not sure if you can see her but she is very prim.
This is another tree and is in my diningroom with my favotite Boyd's Santa sitting beside it.

These guys were a Christmas gift from my mom and I LOVE them so much I had to share with you! Two little Santa crows....one asleep on top of the tree and the other on top of Santa's sack. The sack is made of a piece of old quilt tea stained and the tree is also tea stained. Arent they adorable?? If you havent guessed I kinda like crows!
Maybe with a few days off I will actually catch up!! I promised to show you the goodies I won in the give away from Under the Wild Cherry Trees. So here they are!! I LOVE the snowman and you will probably notice everything thru out my Christmas pics too! Thank you again Loretta!

Well its almost Midnight here so I am going to bed. I will add a few more pics tomorrow! Have a good night everyone!

My Harley

I decided I should have a Christmasy blog for at least a week! So I changed the background and added a picture of Harley my cat hiding in a box of ornaments. He loves to get into boxes and hide. As we removed ornaments he investigated every box and eventually fell asleep in this one.

My 6th and final tree is almost complete and I think Im ready as far as shopping and decorating goes. I still have baking to do and I work tomorrow....my last day until the New Year I hope!

I went out early this morning with some coupons I got online for free bags of Pedigree dog food. I picked up 4 bags totally free and then donated them to the local animal shelter. While there I of course wanted to bring home every kitten and puppy! I wish I could....breaks my heart to see them all.

I am off to bed after being at the cold rink watching my son play hockey. They won and it was a great game but now its time for momma to hit the hay. I will post some more Christmas pics in the next couple days. Hope you all are having a good weekend.

A yummy recipe and a few Christmas pics

Im finally getting a few things done around here! These pics dont do justice to my house at all. I really need a new camera. I decided to keep my mantle simple this year. I will be glad when we get rid of those lights!
This is one of my trees and the only one I have up so far. Its actually three trees on one base. Its hard to see the ornaments but most are primitive wooden ones. Under the tree are two pieces of my Boyds collection. I just love the Santa bear with his list.
I couldnt resist this guy when I was out shopping a few weeks ago. He is hanging on the front of an old armoire that sits in my livingroom. He may be grungy but looks so festive in his hat!
Now for a yummy recipe. This is so easy and soooo good!
Candy Cane Bark

Ingredients:

1 package Bakers semi sweet chocolate
1 package Bakers white chocolate
2 candy canes

Spread wax paper on a large cookie sheet.
Melt Semi sweet chocolate and spread it over the sheet.
Melt white chocolate and drip it over the dark chocolate.
Using a butter knife swirl white and dark chocolate together.
Spread crushed candy canes over the chocolate mixture to flavor.
Place in fridge until hardened.
Crack into bark like pieces and freeze.

Here is a pic of mine....it wont last long. It is sooo good and took me about 10 minutes to make.

Have a great week everyone. I hope to get back for another post soon. More pics when my house is actually decorated and clean!

Some goodies for me and a giveaway!

Well on my way to work at the gift shop today I stopped to pick up my mail and was so excited to get the package of Prim goodies I ordered from Carmen at Waxed out Creative Life! I took some pics to share with you and I was wishing they were like those old *scratch and sniff* papers! Carmen everything is great and it all smells soooo good!!! Thank you again for shipping to me.

I also wanted to mention to you all to go check out Deb's giveaway at Goat Creek. Even though I secretly hope I win because I want those recipes I think you all should participate! I have had the opportunity to taste her cooking and she makes very tastey things!

I am always mentioning that I am working at a gift shop and even though its not prim I thought I would share a few pics of where I am blogging from today. Some of them turned out a little blurry but it will give you an idea of what we sell here.

Above is one of the windows with some Christmas ornaments hanging on it. Most are made by local artisans. Alot of wood things!

This Santa is made of a pine cone and a piece of drift wood that people collect from the seashores of Nova Scotia. There is another one below but for some reason the pics didnt load together!Every woman loves purses and scarves!! My favorite corner of the store.

I dont know if you can read the night shirt or not but it says..... *A Canadian Winter Coat is not shaving your legs from Thanksgiving to Easter* hehe!

Hope you enjoyed the little tour! Have a great weekend everyone.

Olympic History for me!!!

WOW!! Thats all I can say! I dont usually get too excited over the Olympics or professional sports but today is very different. In our little small town of Stewiacke Nova Scotia the Olympic relay passed thru this morning. It was so very exciting.

A little History....Stewiake's *claim to fame* is being the halfway point between the North Pole and the Equator. We also have a replica of a Mastodon, known as Marvin, here and there were mastodon bones unearthed in a local gypsum mine a few years ago. The bones went to the natural history museum and a replica was build here and named Mastodon ridge park. The pic is the torches *kissing* in front of Marvin.
The other pic is me with a young girl who ran with the torch as well. Each runner goes only about 300 meters and they light the next torch from theirs. If they want to keep the torch they have to pay for it...about $400! But who wouldnt want it?? Think of the history and memories to pass down for generations to come!!

So that was my start to the day! No Prim stuff to share but a wonderful memory! Have a great day everyone!

I have a Rooster!!

Ok not really...but check out my new header! My sis over at Goat creek took this picture and thought it would be great for my header. I love it!! Thanks Debbie!

Not much to share this morning as its early and Im getting ready for work. My husband is hopefully recovered from the flu both him and my son had so he can work on the steps for the back porch. Winter is fast approaching and we still have one set of steps to complete on the new porch deck. Since he had a couple days off school I thought I would put him to work...then the flu hit!

Yesterday I stacked wood and threw in some more and today my body is feeling it! I also picked up all the pumpkins and some leaves and discarded of them, baked chocolate chip cookies, did laundry and made some yummy chicken for supper. It was a busy day and now back to work for today. Of course I will leave hubby a list....still lots of projects he can do!!

Have a great day everyone!

Remember.....

It doesnt take but one word to say what needs to be said for today....and every day for that matter. REMEMBER...... Remember those who have fought for our freedom in the past and those who still fight today. Remember the lives lost and the sacrifices families had to make for us. Whether American or Canadian we live in a free country and freedom is seldom free,it comes with a price and for some people that was the ultimate sacrifice to give us what we have today. I thought I would share a few photos I found from Nov.11,2008 in Halifax,Nova Scotia.
They shall not grow old as we who are left grow old. Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, we will remember them.

Veterans Motorcycle club.....

I also have another reason to remember today. My sister,Kelly, has this special day as a birthday! Happy birthday Kel....we went out for dinner last night with a whole group of girls and it was great. A nice Irish Pub and the food was fantastic.
I hope everyone has a great day and finds time not only today but every day to remember to thank a Veteran!

Prim shopping party!

I mentioned in my last post I was going to a shopping party at a new Prim shop I discovered a month or so ago. It was great! We were all entered for a draw for a $50 gift card which I didnt win but of course I shopped anyways! I got this great sign that I am going to hang over my diningroom door I think....unless I change my mind and put it elsewhere.

I also bought these cute little ornies. I loved them and thought they would look good on my skinny tree! I know I could make them myself but I really just dont have the time and these were a good price.

The owner of the shop had also made two cheese balls from mixes she sells there. We bought a salsa cabana one as that is the one we tried and it was so good! Very spicy but we like hot spicy things. All in all it was a good evening and I even picked out some christmas presents for my husband to buy me! He better take the hint and go back and get them!

Today I am working at the gift shop and it is soon time to go home. Its a cool but sunny day in Nova Scotia...no snow yet. I hope you have all had a good weekend. Time for me to go home by the fire!

Belated Fall pics and Prim Winter goodies!

Oh I have been so slack getting to this lately!! But Im back and going to cram a few things into this post! Last night my sons grad class held an auction to help fund their safe grad party in the spring. There were lots of fun things donated and of course we all spent our money to help them. I came home with this great basket full of prim winter ornaments. I was so excited to have the winning bid!As you can see Harley decided he liked the basket and I had to keep chasing him out of it to get some pics! I will have to get a cushion made for the basket so he can have a new bed I guess! I couldnt get the pics to do what I wanted on here today so they are kind of backwards! Another picture of Harley enjoying the big new basket! I might even be able to part with a few of these and give them to my mom or sister for Christmas.

I took these pics last week when we did our pumpkins for halloween and they are just making it to my blog now! My son Aidan helped me and we carved 3 in total. I didnt get any pics of my fall decorating inside and very soon my Christmas will go up. My favorite time of year!

I decided to be different and give this guy a funky nose. It got varying comments....most not fit to be posted about! LOL!
The pic of all three of them came out blurry. I sooooo need a new camera but I just cant bear to spend the money for it right now. Maybe Santa will bring me a better one!

Tonight I am attending a Christmas shopping party at the New little craft shop I posted about a few weeks back. They are going to have specials and freebies and draws for prizes. I am just hoping the storm they are calling for holds off. Its been snowing a little here and there all day but nothing major...well not enough to keep me home! I will take my camera and hopefully I will get to take a few pics.
Other than that lately my life has been consumed with work and hockey with my son. We have two upcoming tournaments so I will soon become the travelling hockey mom for the last season....after this year he is too old to play minor hockey and will be off to university. I actually think I might miss it....even though its such a busy time of year!
Hope everyone has a great day and I will try to keep up from now on!

Where have I been???

We have been so busy with work that I have not done much around the house at all. Hockey has started for my son and soon basketball. I am working 6 days a week and sometimes 12 hour days! Thankfully its just for a short season or I wouldnt make it. I promise to be back soon with some things to share....dont desert me yet!! Have a great day!

Simply Primitive!

I cant believe its friday already! I feel like I have accomplished next to nothing this week and I still work today and Sunday. Saturday is my only day off this time of year. Fortunately the second job I work is a gift shop and I can take my lap top with me and work at my other job when Im not busy...or blog!

About a week ago I noticed a new store had popped up in the town next to ours. Well since it is called *Simply Primitive* you know I had to check it out! I was working in that area the other day so I stopped in and of course came home with a couple goodies. Loved this painted spoon and it will look great hanging in my kitchen when I EVER get my cabinets painted!
I also bought this box for my kitchen utensils. I may sand it a little more...I loved it and the colors match mine but I think I want it a little more prim.
The store was beautiful and I could have spent so much money there! Lots of prim goodies and some of the home decor as well. Premade curtains,candles,shelves,boxes...you name it! I saw some really neat house numbers there that I think will go on my Christmas list. They are like wooden tiles you slide in a frame and there is a space for a decorative tile beside the numbers. There were lots of painted tiles for fall and winter so you could change them with the seasons or holidays. So if anyone lives in my area the store is called Simply Primitive and it is in Truro, Nova Scotia. Next time I am in I will try to have a camera handy to ask if I can take some pictures. Im sure being new she might like the publicity!
Have a great friday everyone...whats planned for your weekend?

Some Prim Ornaments!

After my sis Debbie at Goat Creek mentioned finding a Prim tree to decorate for the seasons it made me think of mine! Soooo.....I decided to share some of my prim ornaments that I put on my tree. Most of these are Christmas ones as I usually only have my trees out then. And as you can see my camera isnt the best! I love all of these and they look so nice on the tree! I have a rusty wire garland that I put on as well. I know its only fall.....but I love Christmas! I hope you enjoy the pics!

Love this little Angel....kind of cut her halo off. Im a terrible photographer!!
This Angel hangs like she is laying and holds the star so it kind of looks like she is flying! And the chubby snowman is just adorable!!
Just a few more to share. The heart could be used at Valentines too and I tend to keep my angels out for most seasons!
Thanks for looking hope you enjoyed....only 94 days til Christmas!!

I once was Lost!!

But here I am! I cant believe how busy I have been and still dont seem to have accomplished a darn thing!! I had hoped to get my kitchen cupboards painted but we are into fall and I havent had time to blink! I will post pics of the armoire I was wanting to paint black soon though ....almost done! We had a wedding to go to last weekend that was a 5 hour drive each way and an over night stay. I was home Sunday night and then on the road for work Monday morning and gone another 3 days. I am also back to working my second(or is it third) job for the fall/winter which means I go 6 days a week. I am actually there today and its the first change I have had to blog!

Yesterday our town held its annual yard sale and my sister and I did a big sale in my yard. It was great to get out and see everyone and the day went well. I made a few extra dollars which I will put into my Christmas fund! I hope everyone is doing well. I am off to catch up on my reading so I know what you are all up to! Have a great week!

Crooksville China and a Dream!

I hope everyone had a great weekend! I thought I would show you where I moved my *dream* to! This is a shelf my mom bought me awhile ago and it never quite made it to the wall. She has friends who make all kinds of things from recycled wood and old furniture. The one above is from an old organ or piano. I love it! It is now on my bedroom wall holding my dream sign!

About a month ago mom and I went to do some thrift store shopping. Here there is a chain of used clothing/thrift stores called Frenchy's. I found these Crooksville China pieces there. There are 4 cups,5 bread and butter plates, and 5 fruit/dessert bowls. I paid 25 cents each for them and at the time I dont know why I even bought them. Just thought they were pretty. Well they have sat in the bag wrapped up all this time. I decided to sell them on ebay or kijiji today and upon doing a little research discovered they are kinda rare! Havent been made since 1939 and it seems they are worth way more than the 25 cents I paid!! Now Im excited and hope someone buys them!Hope everyone has a great week. Cloudy here today but looks like a good week. Im off to do some laundry and maybe read a few blogs!
